When I found myself running low on essentials like milk or bread during the week, my strategy was simple: opt for the local convenience store whenever possible. To put a halt to those budget-busting mid-week grocery trips that tend to end up costing more than the gallon of milk or loaf of bread I initially needed.

Added to that is the time saved- it is far quicker to pull right up to the convenience store and grab what you need, vs going to the grocery store, parking, navigating to the right department etc. I began with a few simple staples: homemade salad dressings, marinades for meats and fish, and pasta sauce from scratch.
