Free baby bib samples

There was always a stack of my diy bandana bibs somewhere close, ready to use. Once the first one got wet, I'd just switch out to a new one and I was set! They saved me from countless clothing changes throughout the day, real life savers.

First, here's a quick slideshow just to get you familiar with how easy this bandana bib is to make. Check it out here, but heads-up, it's still all old photos 🙂.

I want you to be able to make your own baby bandana bibs so I designed my own pattern for you to use. I've drafted quite a few bibs before I was happy about the design. Scroll down to Step 1 to download the best bandana bib pattern I've drafted so far - works great with any material!

You can use scraps! You only need two pieces that will each cover a lettersize or A4 page format, no more even a bit less, if you check out the free PDF pattern. I often use scraps of cute kid-themed fabrics.

There are more fabric tips at the end of this post, but in short, you can either choose two contrasting pieces of cotton, or one in cotton plus one super absorbent layer for backing, like terry cloth.

Upcycled fabric, as long as it's absorbent, will work fine too. The small-size baby bib has a neck circumference of 11 ½" or 29 cm.

The large-size bib has a neck circumference of 13" or 33 cm. And now the text instructions to make this reversible bandana bib:.

Get the template from the shop here - it's absolutely FREE! Print and start cutting and sewing right now. To download the FREE bandana bib TEMPLATE , click the button below. Get the free pattern HERE.

Optional, as an alternative:. OR do you want a printable copy of the WHOLE tutorial? Scroll to the bottom of this tutorial for more details! Using the free pattern, cut two pieces from your fabrics.

They don't need to be the same. In fact, it's more fun if they are not:. Place the two pieces with the right sides of the fabric together.

Leave a 3" opening at one of the two straight edges of the bib, so you'll be able to turn the bandana bib right side out.

It is marked on the pattern. Trim off some of the fabric in the seam allowance. Do this around each curve. It will make turning easier and the finish nicer. You can use pinking shears if you have them. Turn your bandana bib right side out. Fold the edges at the opening towards the inside and press it.

I love using my new DIY pressing board for that. So much faster! See how to make a handy DIY Ironing Board for all your small projects. If you're in a hurry, you can just topstitch over the opening you left before. Install KAM snaps as fastening scroll down for more closure options Done!!

If you haven't installed KAM snaps before, here's an easy tutorial for you - also, see what KAM snap size I use and why :. And here are even more tips to make the bandana bib pattern work for you - better, easier, and quicker!

The softest version I've ever made was from two layers of jersey. Just make sure the jersey is not too thin. Bandana bibs can be fastened using a hammer-on or hand-sewn metal snap, a plastic snap, pieces of Velcro - and let's not forget the good old buttons. Sometimes, they would also simply be tied off, but that causes a large knot that's not too comfortable for babies, so I'm leaving that one out 🙂.

What do I use to make bandana bibs? I used to make them with nearly all the above options. But then I discovered KAM snaps. I absolutely love KAM snaps. For several reasons: one, adding KAM snaps is so easy! They come in a gazillion of colors, so you can mix and match to your heart's content.

They are inexpensive. And they are so comfortable for the baby. No Velcro scratching that little neck! This way, the large bib will fit several sizes - baby, toddler, and even older kids. I've done it before and it has worked perfectly! This bandana bib pattern is quite simple and easy to make.

It will be made in no time and save you some money along the way. Who knows, you might just create an all-time favorite bib for your baby or toddler! Do you want an ad-free, printable copy of this online tutorial? Or check out this popular pattern in our shop: Ultimate Diaper Clutch - a perfect baby welcoming gift every new mom would love to get!

Use both my bandana bib pattern and the Ultimate Diaper Clutch pattern and you've got a perfect homemade baby welcoming gift set! When I print the pattern everything comes out fine except the actual pattern; this page is all dark blue and the cutting lines are not visible.

I am just curious, could you make the bibs with terry toweling on the bottom and one cotton fabric layer on top? Or do you recommend the double layer of cotton on top and terry toweling lining 3 layers? Kindest, Em. I haven't sewed in many years and this pattern and burb cloth were perfect to start with.

So easy to do and my sewing skills are coming back after 20 years of not sewing. Thank you for sharing these patterns. My niece is having twins and I have a couple of other family members pregnant I'll be making lots of these sets for them.

Mary was asking for an easier way to turn the bibs right side out. I have found that using a chop stick from our local Chinese restaurant is greatly helpful in turning them right side out.

The chop stick is less likely to push through the fabric and it gets into small crannies pretty well. I loved making these bibs.

The only part is turning them right side out. Do you have an easier way. Mary thank you. Well as for turning, I've seen a few bibs where the layers were just sewn together and the raw edges were serged or zigzaged, so no turning.

But those will not last as bibs always get a lot of laundering, and personally I prefer clean edges, and absolutely no chance for loose threads around a baby's neck.

But with practice, even turning a bib right-side out will become easy, especially after you've made a few. Happy sewing, Damjana. Thanks for this pattern! I ended up securing the bibs with a button instead of snaps and it worked out well! This was the perfect project to do with scraps from a baby quilt I'm making.

Love it. Love your baby bib pattern, but my finished bib is not the same measurements as yours. Lisa 🙂. Lisa hi, thanks for using my pattern.

You will need: fabric for the front of the bib fabric for the back of the bib I like to use something absorbent, like terry cloth thread sewing machine unless you want to do it by hand pins velcro or snaps to close the bib Snap Fastener tool if you elect to use snaps scissors or a rotary cutter and mat First up here is the Pattern that I use to make my bibs: Click here to open the PDF.

Prep Time 20 minutes. Active Time 30 minutes. Total Time 50 minutes. Difficulty easy. Estimated Cost depends on materials. Materials fabric for the front of the bib fabric for the back of the bib I like to use something absorbent, like terry cloth thread velcro or snaps to close the bib.

It should take up most of the page. Turn the bib right side out. Iron it so that everything lays nice and flat. Top stitch all the way around the outside of the bib. There are so many awesome designs in fabric. Be creative! I used a piece of denim from a pair of jeans and a scrap of an old quilt that I found in a thrift store.

Both pieces were clean and in good repair- just waiting to be used in a good project! The fabric can be whatever you want, but denim, cotton woven fabrics, terry cloth, and flannel work well.

You can even make a DIY bib from a hand towel! Use the free pattern to cut one bib piece from each fabric. I chose to add a monogram to the plain denim piece.

I ironed Wonder Under a fusible web on the back of the fabric. Then drew the design on the fabric and cut it out. I pulled off the paper backing on the Wonder Under and ironed the monogram on the front of the denim bib piece of fabric.

It works so well! Place the two bib pieces together, edges matching, wrong sides together. You can zig-zag them together on the edges to hold them in place if you want. We will use seam binding to finish the edge of the bib.

You want a color that coordinates with your fabric. Open the binding up and sandwich the edge of the bib inside the binding. Start on the neck edge and go all the way around the main part of the bib, ending on the other neck edge.

I use a zig-zag stitch along the edge of the binding closest to the fabric. The stitching stays entirely on the binding- it holds it on really well. Then finish the ties and the neck edge of the bib with binding as well.

Leave one foot of extra binding on each side of the neck edge.
